We're excited to see our Round Midnight cocktail hat make a stunning cameo appearance in the cover story for W Magazine's Volume II 2019 issue. The photoshoot, which features silver screen superstar Angela Bassett in our classic silk couture pillbox, was directed by Oscar-nominated film director Spike Lee and styled by Oscar-nominated costume designer Ruth E. Carter. Together, the talented trio reinvents iconic 20th century images while paying homage to the timeless power of the black woman, as well as to famous photographers like James Van Der Zee, Irving Penn, and Gordon Parks.

Photographed by LaToya Ruby Frazier, the shoot is comprised of 8 different sets featuring Ms. Bassett in various powerful roles, ranging from diva to temptress. In our favorite image, Lee pays tribute to renowned jazz photographer Roy DeCarava by transforming Ms. Bassett into a modern vision of Billie Holiday in a Roberto Cavalli dress paired with a Cartier ring, Rodarte earrings, Miu Miu shoes, and of course, our Bijou Van Ness Round Midnight cocktail hat. The images captured in W Magazine are absolutely stunning and we're beyond honored to be a part of it!
